Brief: To highlight the main wall of Zima, Bandra (restaurant). Make it more clickable. Add middle eastern theme combining modern and traditional worlds.
My Solution and design approach:
Since the white wall was already in a unique 4 sided shape and white that struck out, thought of keeping the artwork subtle and in whites to nicely blend in yet stand out at the same time. Added tinges of browns in spaces to bring in the desert essence and played with diachronic sheets to give it an interesting twist. As far as to play with middle eastern element, I decided to go with architecture that accentuates the four sided wall shape more, and is clickable and interesting from all angles.
As requested by client, carefully added the Al Fahadi Historical Neighbourhood, that highlights structures of it’s centuries old district with wooden plank jutting from it’s sides (a reference to traditional craftmansship of Emirati people). Nicely blended motifs, palm trees, moon and a Mosque into the design blending in the traditional with modern minimal design.
